TREP$

Congratulations to all who participated in our annual TREP$ marketplace. Despite the soggy day, the weather couldn't dampen the spirits of our entrepreneurs and shoppers alike.

Thank you to Mrs. Otte for once ahead spearheading this wonderful program.

Teacher Appreciation Week

There are a few ways you can help to support Teacher's Appreciation Week, May 1-5. This year's theme is the television show, FRIENDS! Each day will be another "episode" that celebrates our Valley View Teachers. We have provided an Amazon Link to the items we need for the week. OR, simply go to Membership Toolkit and make a monetary donation.

Here is the Amazon Wish List. If you are willing to contribute, please do so by April 25. See the flier below for each day's episodes!

BOY AND GIRL EVENTS

With both the boys and girls events behind us, we wanted to thank everyone who helped make those wonderful events possible.  The boys were excited to run around and play with their favorite gals.  The weather was spectacular and everyone had a great time.

The girls event was equally as positive.  The girls got to spend the evening dancing with their favorite guys.

There are so many people who helped make both of these events memorable, and we are greatful to have all of you on our team!!!

Elections

Elections will take place at the June 14th meeting, this meeting will be held in person at Valley View.  If you wish you to vote, YOU MUST BE IN PERSON.  ONLY VOTES MADE IN PERSON WILL BE COUNTED.

PTA Board Letters of Intent (Names listed in the order in

 which the letter was received)

President

Maria Kiropoulos – “I have a massive invested interest in the school and look to see it succeed in every way, both educationally and communally. I have previously presided on the PTA board at my older children’s elementary schools in the years past. I was also president of our Greek organizations nonprofit for many years. Therefore, I understand this is a huge commitment. I believe my strongest characteristics are being organized, passionate and creative.”

Caitlin Smith (Current Board President) - “I have been on the Valley View PTA board for 7 years, spending the last 3 as President. During this time I have become very familiar with the workings of the PTA, setting up events, running meetings, serving as President of the town’s Presidents’ Council with Dr. Rovtar and Dr. Gorman, and have established a wonderful working relationship with Dr. Kennedy and the staff at Valley View. My youngest son is currently in third grade at Valley View, so the end of this term would coincide with his fifth grade graduation.”

Zorali Gomez-  “I would love to be part of keeping Valley View an exceptional school and experience for our children and will do all I can to make it happen. I look forward to working with others to come up with interesting and fun ways to raise money and get families involved in School Spirit!”

1st VP

Staci Handler (Current 1st VP, running unopposed)

2nd VP

Brittney Pimenta - I work full time as a data analyst which means I am a problem solver.  Even though I work full time I stay very active in my daughter’s activities.  I have also overseen both of the fundraisers within my daughter’s girls scout troop.  Currently I am the cookie mom and, if you know Girl Scouts, that is a huge undertaking.  Within my short time on the within the PTA, I have volunteered for the harvest festival, the leading ladies dance, helping with enrichment pickup and am apart of the baking committee.

Joanie Simone - I would like to express my interest in becoming a 2nd Vice President at Valley View Elementary School. My family moved from Manhattan to Montville in 2020. Our daughter Gemma is in 2nd grade, and we have a 3-year-old, Ella. I am a private school administrator with 13 years specialized experience in the admissions department and have a strong classroom background. I value the importance of family and education. I am confident that I have the skills and experience to hold this position. Given an opportunity, I assure you I will give my best and become an asset to the school. Currently on the committee for both the Boys and Girls events and running the Adults Spring Party.

Treasurer

Maria Rothschild (Current Treasurer) & Kim Salley

The nominating committee suggests that this position be run jointly by both Maria Rothschild and Kim Salley for one year. Maria Rothschild has been actively involved in the PTA for not only her son's years at the school but her older daughter who spent her elementary years at Valley View. She has always been willing to volunteer her time to many different events and committees. She has been a reliable Treasurer and it makes sense that she would want to follow her sons through their 5th grade year, even though her term would end after only one year when they move onto middle school. On that note, Treasurer is a big job. Kim Salley has the background needed to take on this role and also has many years left at Valley View with her younger children. A co-treasurer year would provide for a smooth transition and give both nominees time to both teach and learn handling the finances of the PTA. As mentioned, this will be Valley View’s year of the large Tricky Tray fundraiser and that involves a lot of financial responsibility. At this time, with the support of the school administration, no vote is needed for Treasurer.
