Dear Parents/Guardians:
Our traditional Halloween celebrations and parades will not take place this year. However, our hope is to allow virtual and in-person students to showcase their costumes on Friday, October 30th in a safe and healthy way.
As a result of the current Covid-19 protocols and safety measures, we need everyone’s cooperation in ensuring safe and appropriate measures are followed throughout the day.
Please note the following guidelines which will ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of your child:
- If your child is in person, they may wear their costumes to school and must wear a face covering.
- Costume masks are not permitted.
- Avoid costumes that obstruct the proper use of the face covering.
- Select a costume that is in good taste and not offensive. It should not restrict your child’s movement. Remember that all students will follow their regular daily schedule, e.g. physical ed., art, media and music.
- If facial makeup will be utilized, please note possible allergic reactions and distractions that application to the face might cause.
- Please understand that teachers will not be permitted to assist individual students with costumes. They should be easy, safe, and secure.
- Students are not permitted to pass out any goodie bags or outside crafts.
In person or virtual:
- Any form of a weapon, i.e. play gun, spear, knife, etc., though made out of plastic or rubber, is not acceptable to bring in person or to have while learning virtually.
We encourage you to be involved with the selection of a costume if your son or daughter chooses to dress up. If you have any concerns or questions please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher prior to October 30th for clarification.
Although Halloween and many celebrations may look and feel different this year, we are excited to provide an opportunity for students to share their enthusiasm for this special day with friends and teachers.
Looking forward to an enjoyable day!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kennedy
